Here's a list of why it is exciting to live here in Texas:
1. Running at 5 AM with a sudden downpour of hard pellet-like rain that lasts for only a few minutes but drenches you all the same.
2. Hail the size of baseballs that damages your roof so badly that every roofer in America sends out fliers to get your business (yes, our roof, along with every roof in the neighborhood was totaled and had to be replaced). I think Tarrant county is the hail capital of America, who else can brag about that?
3. Bugs, fire ants, and pests of all shapes and sizes. Frogs, rabbits and lizards are a regular occurrence in our yard. We don't have cockroaches though, despite all of my mom's horror stories from her childhood.
4. 95 degree weather one day, 65 degree weather the next.
5. Swine flu. I know it has been a week or so since the "big" outbreak, but people got a bit paranoid here. Fort Worth school district (we aren't in that district), closed all their schools for 1 1/2 weeks because there was one or two confirmed cases in the whole district. All of our extra curricular activities were cancelled, including the annual 4th grade play day (poor Josh).
Even with all this "excitement" we are still happy to be here in crazy old Texas.
