This year for Thanksgiving we finally convinced some family to come visit. The Merrills came from Colorado to spend the week with us. They arrived Sunday afternoon, but we didn't get a lot of down time. We headed out on Monday morning for five hours to San Antonio to spend a couple of days at Sea World.
Because it was Thanksgiving break we thought it would be really crowded. Luckily for us, it was almost empty. We got to go right up to all the rides and not wait in any lines. Bree tried the Steal Eel for the first time and Josh tried the Great White for the first time. They both said they liked the rides, but they didn't want to ride them again. That's OK.
They were having their Christmas celebration so all the shows were Christmas themed. The Shamu show was great as always. Bree left the show saying she wished she could be one of the girls who rode the killer whales. It did look really cool.
Clyde and Semore's Christmas show was funny too. My favorite part was when the "Santa" walrus came out of the chimney and did some sit-ups.
They put on a 4-D Polar Express show too. They took 18 minutes of the movie and made it 3-D. Then they added snow falling around us, our chairs shook when the train came, we got squirted with both water and chocolate smelling fumes. It was fun also.
Josh really wanted to ride the Rio Loco, but we saved it for last just in case we got a bit wet. It was about 60 degrees, not warm enough to get wet. We asked to workers if we would get wet and they told us only a bit when the water from the river splashed us.
We went in two boats, the "boys" and the "girls". We were having a nice time, only getting splashed a bit when from out of nowhere some stranger, standing on the side watching us go down the river, started spraying us with giant water guns (they are there just for that purpose). I got sprayed right in the face and all over my front. The others got sprayed a bit too. I was so mad that some stranger had a the nerve to spray total strangers, on a cold day too.
Well, when we got done we noticed the boys hadn't got a bit wet and they were going again. Our little girls begged to go again too. We decided that it wouldn't hurt because we figured the strange guy had gone. We were wrong. Not only did he NOT spray the "boys" he sprayed the "girls" again and got all of us wet this time.
This guy had some nerve. He actually walked right past us after we got off the ride and laughed at us. Of course he wouldn't spray the guys because they would have probably beat him up.
As you can see from the picture, Bree was really mad :)
Here are a few miscellaneous pictures.
Here is a pictures of a cute little poison arrow frog. I have no idea what they have to do with the "Sea" but they were cool.
Checking out the sharks.
Josh feeding the dolphins.
Jason feeding the dolphins.
BUT, I think the best part for all of us was having our cousins to hang out with the whole time. We really did have a great vacation.
