Fine Arts Night 2011

We had a fun/crazy evening last Thursday. It was both Independence Elementary's open house and Trinity Meadows Intermediate School's fine arts night. Breanna had to perform with her Zvakanaka drumming group at both events. Josh had to play three pieces on the metalephone with his music class and sing with his choir. Unfortunately, some of the events overlapped so I didn't get to see Josh perform with his music class. Luckily, I volunteer in his music class every Wednesday, so I heard them rehearse their songs that day.

Breanna also had a picture she drew hanging right next to the art classroom door at her school. She just mentioned it in passing as we were walking down the hall. "Oh mom, that is my picture hanging there". I was quite impressed.

Josh was asked to participate in the honor art club after school. In seven weeks this is all they accomplished (there were four students to design this one ceiling tile). Originally one of the kids in his group wanted to draw a huge teddy bear. Josh promptly put a stop to that, but they couldn't agree what to put on the tile otherwise. They each just came up with their own logo and put that on it.

I'm not sure why it has taken them so long, what have they been doing? He has one more week so hopefully he'll have a little more to show for it. I'll post if he brings anything home.

We have always been very impressed with the fine arts programs here in our area. It is fun to see the kids get involved and enjoy them so much.
