Tennis for Josh

Today Josh was able to play in his first tennis match ever. He has been taking drills for some time now but all the league play is on Sundays here in Texas. So, he has never had the opportunity to play in any real tennis matches. He will be trying out for the middle school team come fall so his drill coach said he needed some experience.

We signed him up for a tournament (there are some local tournaments on Saturdays thank goodness) that took place this morning. He played two rounds (it was double elimination) which means he lost both sets, but we were so proud how well he did and how hard he worked.

The first set was really close and he almost won. The boy he played was much more on Josh's level. The second was a bit more challenging. This boy put all kinds of spins on the ball and kept doing short shots. He was a tough challenger. However, Josh gave it a great effort and we sure are proud of him for doing it because he was really nervous.

We're hoping to get him in at least one tournament a month just to get him experience.
