Days 3-5: Boston

We drove into Boston after Jason got off work on Tuesday. We quickly got unpacked in our posh hotel right across the street from Boston Common (Jason's work paid :).
Then we headed to Jason's favorite spot in Boston, Mike's pastry. They are famous for their cannolis and it was evident. We got there at 9 PM and there was a line out the door down the street. They are like the soup Nazi (on Seinfeld) only they are the cannoli Nazi. You don't have time to look around, you have to know what you want right then or people get a bit peeved. But hey, it was worth it. You will never taste a cannoli like these (unless you go to Italy to get one).

On Wednesday Jason had to work so the kids and I walked to the Children's museum to spend the day. Unfortunately, when we got there and after we had paid, we looked around to discover that this place was for children about 5 years old. All three of us were very disappointed, but we tried to make the best of it and we spent two hours there doing anything we could that wasn't blowing bubbles or dressing up.

Then the kids and I walked around Faniel Hall (an outdoor market type place) and got some souvenirs, saw some street performers, and then walked back to our hotel until Jason got off work. Then we went out again to get dinner and Mike's pastry :).

Thursday Jason was off work so we spent the day touring Boston. We took a duck tour (riding in a car/boat around the city and on the Charles river). I really loved this. We learned so much history and minor trivia about the city. I just loved the old buildings that were surrounded by the new buildings. This was definitely my favorite part of our time in Boston.
George Washington statue

Paul Revere's grave site.
John Hancock's grave site.

The old State house. Josh saw it and recognized it from his history book and told us all about the Boston massacre that happened there. He amazes me with his memory sometimes.

After our duck tour we walked to the piers and looked out at the ocean. We also made a quick stop at Mike's pastry and then headed to take the Amtrak to Connecticut, where we would be staying with Jason's brother, Taylor, his wife, Liz, and their two boys, Caden and Tyson.

We really enjoyed Boston. It has the big city feel, but it is walkable and has such great history everywhere.
