On Friday we headed into New York City with Tay, Liz, Caden, and Tyson to see the sights. First we headed to see the Statue of Liberty (a must if you're in NYC). It was quite magnificent. We all really enjoyed it, but could have done without the endless time waiting in lines for the ferry.
After seeing the Statue of Liberty (which took until 3 PM because of the waiting) we headed to China town to try some authentic Chinese food. We found this little hole in the wall and decided we were all starving and didn't have time to look any further. One word sums it up... YUMMY!! We had four different dishes and they were all fabulous. Even Bree tried them all and LIKED them all. She never likes anything new or weird.
After getting some food in our bellies, we headed for the main part of the city. This is what the kids had been waiting for...the Pokemon center, the Hershey's store, the M & M store, and the Lego store.
The next day we again headed into the Big Apple. We met my brother, Craig, who actually lives in Manhattan (close to central park), whom we haven't seen in three years, to hang out all day. We introduced him to Rockefeller center (he can't remember going there since he has lived there, for four years). (Check out his nice shirt that is a tribute to our late dog, Tigga:)
We had lunch out at a street vendor. Bree got a hot dog, and the rest of us got these Greek gyros. Again, yummy! I'm sure they were very unhealthy, but we were on vacation. We then ate in Bryant park which was really nice and shady and green.
New York City was fabulous (besides the subways, which the kids didn't like all that much). So much humanity all squished into one little place.
