Last night we had our annual pine wood derby. It is always interesting to see all the creative cars that the boys make. Joshua's car turned out nice. He chose metalic colors (blue, silver and gold) which are his favorites.
It was good that his car looked nice, because unfortunately, his car wasn't much of a speedster. As a matter of fact, it barely made it across the timer everytime.
Poor Joshua was heartbroken when he saw his car come in last (extreme last) every heat. Joshua didn't handle this well. The other kids that had slow cars just laughed, but Joshua took it more personally. I pointed out there were some cars that didn't eve
n make it past the timer, and others that were slow too, but that just didn't seem to console him.As we inspected his car we realized his wheels weren't spinning right, but we really didn't know how to fix them. I guess our family members are better painters than mechanics. Oh well, Joshua did get the "best paint job" award for his car.
